White is a universal color in interiors and will be perfect for any room in the house. Particularly noteworthy is the so-called off-white, which impresses with its universal character and neutrality – it beautifully complements interiors decorated in both light and dark colors. No wonder that white microcement is also very popular. We invite you to the house in Warsaw, where the first fiddle is played by the white floor made of Festfloor microcement.

 

White in the interior

White in the interior will work for several reasons. First of all, bright colors reflect light and thus optically brighten and enlarge the interior. So if you have a small apartment or the windows are shaded by trees, the white floor will be a bull’s eye. For a better effect, it is also worth painting the walls and ceiling white.
Secondly, a light floor is a perfect background for both light furniture and those in more juicy colors. The combination of a light floor and light furniture will make the interior seem light, light, clean and fresh. In turn, in the case of furniture in darker and more saturated colors, the white of the floor emphasizes it beautifully and enhances its color – just like in the house we present today. We have dark furniture there – navy blue velor sofas, gray chair upholstery and black fronts of kitchen cabinets and black metal industrial accessories. A metal railing in the form of lamellas also looks beautiful against the background of the white floor.

 

Off-white microcement

There are many shades of white, but so that the interior is not associated with hospital sterility, it is worth choosing a subdued off-white shade instead of snow-white. Off white is an umbrella term for a variety of shades that differ only slightly from pure white. It is white with a hint of gray, pink, yellow, blue or green. White off-white microcement floor in a single-family house

Today we present photos of the white microcement floor made by Best Home Deco. The owner of the company, Józef Figiel, told us more about this project: It was one of the best and most interesting projects. In Wawer (district of Warsaw), on an area of ​​80m², we were to make as uniform as possible floor. We used Festfloor Life color FL12 White, finished with PU Fest 2K satin varnish. The final effect of our work is quite nice 😁.

Challenges in the application of white microcement

Working on such a large area and with white color requires proper planning and the utmost care: For this type of investment, at least two pairs of hands are needed, the more the better and faster. In this case, all the preparation of the floor, from placing the bonding layer with the mesh to the second layer of microcement, we worked in a two-person team, we just invited our friends from the industry (Pracownia Betonu) for the last layer, thanks to which we had two additional pairs of hands – the whole thing took us 2 weeks.

One of the important things is planning the work, especially with the last layer, but each step before that is a puzzle to achieve the intended goal, especially with the white microcement. It is a very nice color, but also very demanding. 
In addition, when applying white microcement, it is important to maintain order on the construction site, thorough vacuuming of individual layers, work with clean tools and the use of protective clothing during varnishing.

Microcement floor and skirting boards

Many customers wonder how to finish a microcement floor. Józek from Best Home Deco definitely recommends skirting boards: Skirting boards – I think that probably every contractor will confirm this – it is the best solution for finishing a floor with microcement. First of all, it is about technical issues: if we have peripheral dilatations and we fill them with microcement, there would be a risk of microcracks. Secondly, aesthetic considerations: the strips fit the microcement very well and I always recommend this solution to my investors. It was on this realization that someone else installed slats (MDF). We finished the joints between the slat and the acrylic floor.
